We are Real Response Media. A well-established print and digital publishing and media company with our offices in north London. 

We are an energetic team with a strong digital strategy to move our business further into the digital space, and over the coming years will be growing that side of the business. 

We are looking for a mid-level web developer, with both front-end and PHP skills to join our growing development team.  

You’ll be involved in everything from full site builds, to improvements to our core systems, as well as assisting the team solve technical challenges at all stages, from idea, to production release. 


The Role 

Working in a small team, you will play a pivotal role in helping us to progress the web platform for our three websites.  

Two of our products ( and, are built on the WordPress platform.  

Our third website, which is our largest platform (, uses CraftCMS, so there is plenty of scope to learn new technologies in the role and immerse yourself into the inner workings of our various CMS platforms. 

We are looking for a mid-level PHP and front-end developer with experience and interest in CMS (Content Management Systems) who can help us improve our websites and help us take these projects forward. 

This is an exciting role for the right person, with great opportunities for personal growth and in addition to these projects, we have further exciting website properties either in-build or planned for our other brands that we also want to develop and grow into market leaders. 

This role is a hybrid UK position. We have an office close to the vibrant area of Kings Cross in London, and days at the office will be required. 

Candidate Requirements 


  • At least 2 years of professional development experience, using PHP and frontend technologies. 
  • PHP – WordPress, CraftCMS, or any other popular CMS. 
  • Modern HTML and CSS 
  • JavaScript (vanilla and/or JQuery)
  • MySQL – a good working knowledge of MySQL and database design 


  • Knowledge of OOP PHP would be beneficial 
  • Experience in using CraftCMS and/or WordPress is very desirable 
  • Experience using a modern CMS, particularly extending out of the box functionality 
  • Experience using a templating language (eg. Twig) 
  • Experience in modern front end build systems (eg. Webpack/gulp) 
  • PHP Package Management – ie. Composer 
  • Experience with, or knowledge of TailwindCSS 
  • Experience in dealing with big websites/web apps that deal with large amounts of traffic would be great 
  • Working knowledge of SEO techniques 
  • Knowing your way around a Linux terminal would be beneficial
